SWITCH 2.0 was developed and launched in 2011 by the city of Aachen in cooperation with partners from the region. The municipal project aims to catch dropouts and place them in dual vocational training.
In the beginning, it was about placing affected candidates in a shortened apprenticeship in the IT sector, but in the meantime the project has become a full-service agency due to the close cooperation with the IHK Aachen in the context of a further development and now supports dropouts from all fields to find an adequate apprenticeship place.
The project is based in the Aachen city administration in the Department of Economics, Science and Europe. More than 350 dropouts have been placed in more than 80 companies via SWITCH so far (as of September 2017)
